Overview
The Senior Revenue Accountant will own the end-to-end revenue accounting process in a high-volume manufacturing environment, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. This is a hands-on role responsible for daily and monthly revenue activities, contract analysis, and close support, while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales to align financial reporting with business activity.

Job Responsibilities
- Execute the day-to-day revenue accounting process, including reviewing sales orders, shipping documents, and customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Apply revenue recognition principles to product sales, bill-and-hold arrangements, distributor agreements, and volume rebates/discounts common in manufacturing environments
- Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries (shipments, returns, accruals, rebates, and reserves) during the monthly close
- Perform detailed account reconciliations for revenue, deferred revenue, rebates, and sales reserves, and investigate variances
- Analyze revenue trends, margins, and fluctuations, providing clear and actionable insights to management
- Review and interpret customer contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring accurate accounting treatment for non-standard terms
- Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Billing teams to validate shipment data, cut-off accuracy, and completeness of revenue
- Prepare revenue-related disclosures and supporting schedules for SEC filings (10-K and 10-Q), including tie-outs and audit support
- Maintain and enforce internal controls over revenue, ensuring compliance with SOX 404 requirements
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and providing documentation
- Contribute to ERP system processes related to order-to-cash and revenue reporting; assist with system improvements or implementations
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline revenue accounting workflows and enhance accuracy
- Document accounting conclusions, policies, and procedures related to revenue recognition
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong, hands-on experience with ASC 606, specifically in a product-based or manufacturing environment
- Deep understanding of revenue drivers in manufacturing, including shipping terms (FOB shipping point vs. destination), returns, warranties, and pricing programs
- Proven ability to manage high-volume transactional data with accuracy and efficiency
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other manufacturing ERPs)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to roll up sleeves and execute while meeting tight deadlines
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations and finance teams
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- 4+ years of relevant experience in revenue accounting or audit, preferably within a manufacturing or product-based company
- Experience with SOX 404 controls and working in a publicly traded company environment preferred
