JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, providing quality-engineering services to internal and external customers and to assist in maintaining quality standards in accordance with customer requirements.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain the Quality owned QMS documentation compliant to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, and all customer specific requirements.
- Comply with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules.
- Lead / participate in the sample submission process (PPAP). Issue PPAP package to customer for approval and review and approve supplier PPAP submissions.
- Develop and implement quality core documentations (example Control Plan, PFMEA, Process Flow, etc.). Support training of production team members to quality documentation.
- Participate in APQP activities, Engineering changes and deviations affecting current production products as well with new program launches.
- Review of GD&T compliance, including tolerances and check fixture design confirmation.
- Manage supplier quality and ensure incoming and outgoing parts, materials and completed units meet customer and quality standards.
- Create and maintain quality visual aids/boundary samples/inspection documentation to ensure clear quality criteria.
- Liaison with internal and external customer and suppliers to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Understand and uphold a sound Quality system that will deliver products that meet and exceed our customer's expectations while ensuring all our required certifications are up to date and in good standing
- Initiate and facilitate Customer/Supplier/Internal NCR's and participate in NCR problem solving teams. Responsible to oversee the corrective action system to effective closure.
- Initiate new and additional inspection and train personnel on inspection methods.
- Manage and monitor quality of incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Interact with customer to help reduce and eliminate PPM's and returns. Review of accumulations to facilitate corrective action process.
- Ensure the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met and to provide full support of our environmental requirements and certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of three (3) years Quality Assurance Engineering experience in automotive. (ie: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, GR&R, Control plans)
- GD&T competency
- Experience in problem solving / process improvement techniques (ie. 8D's, root cause tools).
- Knowledge of stamping and e-coating is an asset
