Position title: Robotic Engineer
Reason for opening: New projects are coming
Project context:
The team designs robots used in power plants around the world to access environments that humans cannot. These robots execute highly specialized tasks, such as inspection and testing in confined or hazardous areas. One example includes crawler robots capable of navigating buried pipes beneath plants or reactors to detect failures and perform structural and soil integrity tests.
Day-to-Day Activities
The Robotic Engineer will contribute across the full robotic system lifecycle, with responsibilities including:
Defining system requirements for robotic behavior, performance, and interaction with the environment
Architecting complete robotic systems to ensure cohesive integration of hardware, software, and sensing components
Implementing and testing robot behavior, autonomy, and coordination
Integrating subsystems such as actuation, sensing, computation, and communication into unified robotic platforms
Validating system performance through simulation, experimentation, and iterative refinement
Troubleshooting complex issues across the robot lifecycle using data, logs, and diagnostic tools
Ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with applicable robotic and operational standards
Optimizing robotic workflows for efficiency, robustness, and scalability in real-world environments
Documenting system architectures and processes to support deployment, maintenance, and future development
Candidate Requirements
Must-Haves (3–5)
Hands-on robotics design experience in Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C), or Electrical Engineering
Experience acting as a technical lead on projects (beyond individual contributor responsibilities)
Demonstrated examples of robots that have been deployed in real environments
Nice to Have
Experience in the nuclear industry
P.Eng. designation
