Role
As a Software Development Engineer II on the Orbit (AMZL operational reporting and BI) team, you'll be at the forefront of applying Large Language Models and AI/ML technologies to transform how Amazon's leaders access and act on Last Mile delivery insights. You'll design and build intelligent, scalable knowledge platform that process metrics of Last Mile data and deliver actionable recommendations with root cause attribution through intuitive conversational interfaces. Key job responsibilities
- Be involved in every aspect of the process – from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through software development using the LLM based technologies and design patterns.
- Design and implement enterprise-scale LLM-based software solutions that deliver reliable, accurate insights to HR and Operations leaders.
- Drive technical architecture decisions for AI/ML-powered systems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance of distributed services handling high-volume data.
- Collaborate with Software Development Engineers, Applied Scientists, QA Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers to ensure the best experience for our internal customers.
- Solve challenges in handling high volume of data and scaling infrastructure supporting LLM/ML solutions.
- Develop and maintain robust frameworks for LLM integration, implementing security controls, data privacy safeguards, and compliant access patterns for sensitive HR data.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of features using standard software engineering methodologies, including design reviews, code reviews, testing, and operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing best practices for LLM-based development within the team.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
