Our team strives to better understand how customers shop on Amazon (and elsewhere) and build models that streamline customers' shopping experiences by showing the right products at the right time. Understanding the complexities of customers' shopping needs and helping them explore the depth and breadth of Amazon's catalog is a challenge we take on every day.
In this job you will work with other Applied Scientist and Machine Learning Engineers to build and train models in the Value and Savings space related to recommendation and ranking systems to help customers find new products that they haven't thought of before but are excited to discover and try and help them save money on products that they are interested in.
Key job responsibilities
Using Amazon’s large-scale computing resources, you will design and deploy state-of-the-art models that help customers shop on Amazon. You will ask research questions about customer behavior, design state-of-the-art models that help customers shop, and deploy these models to production. You will participate in the Amazon ML community and mentor Applied Scientists and software development engineers with a strong interest in and knowledge of ML and generative AI. Your work will directly benefit customers and the retail business.
A day in the life
We are looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented Applied Scientist who has experience developing state-of-the-art models and deploying them to production. You will have an opportunity to make an enormous impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of products used everyday by people you know.
Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of building models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Unix/Linux
• Experience in professional software development

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
