The Student IT Support Technician position is responsible for working as a part of a team to provide technical support for end users at the University of Kansas – Lawrence Campus.

Required Qualifications
- Experience using or managing Windows, Mac and/or Linux operating systems, as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues, as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience working in a customer service centric environment, as evidenced by application materials.
- Excellent communication skills as evidenced by application materials and possible interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous professional experience supporting/troubleshooting computer hardware and software, as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience using or managing Dell computer hardware, as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience using or managing multi-function devices (e.g. print/fax/scan devices), as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience using a ticketing system (e.g. ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.), as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience using a configuration management solution (e.g. Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager), as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience supporting AV technology in a classroom or event environment, as evidenced by application materials.
- Knowledge of LAN / WAN principles and protocols, as evidenced by application materials.
- Experience in creating technical documentation, as evidenced by application materials.
Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
- Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
- This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
- This position must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week during the following days/times: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Candidate must have a valid current driver’s license.
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Candidate will preferably be able to work over academic, holiday, and summer breaks.
- Candidate will preferably be eligible for Federal Work Study.
