Responsibilities
Own the Payroll Process

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state employee base
• Ensure payroll is accurate, timely, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations
• Review and audit payroll data including wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions
• Maintain and update employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, changes)
• Process garnishments, levies, and other withholdings
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate payroll reports

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies
• Assist with payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end processing
• Support internal and external audits as needed

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of payroll experience, ideally in a multi-state environment
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, or similar
• High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
• Strong communication skills—someone employees trust to get it right
