Clean Energy Product Owner, CES Digital Products E-Mobility

Overview
Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers. The Product Owner will work on the Digital Products and Demonstration Projects Team within CES, which seeks to enable the Clean Energy Future through building valuable and easy to use digital tools to support our E-mobility programs. This role will be accountable for product and feature development and prioritization for multiple agile development teams. Additionally, this role will lead product roadmap creation, requirements based on program initiatives, have opportunities to shape and lead process improvements, and have management opportunities. This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, demonstrate application of cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities

  • Support a customer-centric and service-oriented culture, taking special interest in partnering with external business platform and program managers and internal Digital Products group stakeholders.
  • Effectively lead multiple Agile product workstreams, owning product and feature development end-to-end from requirements gathering through release, as well as communications including the product roadmaps, backlog prioritization, and requirements documentation.
  • Lead multiple product teams including managing FTE and/or contractors Business Analysts, and coordinating with many levels of business, engineering, and data partners.
  • Facilitate user requirement workshops and translate business needs to technical language for developers by creating stories, personas, and acceptance criteria driven by business value that are clear, concise, and easy to understand. Solution with engineering team keeping in mind both current and future programs, projects, and initiatives in mind, while identifying process improvements using analytics.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage risks issues, and key performance metrics that drive engagement and result in achieving the States clean energy goals.
  • Plan and manage testing associated with changes to business processes and systems, including supervising development of detailed test plans and test cases, execution of testing, documentation of findings, and working with business and technical staff to resolve identified issues and seek approvals.
  • Initiate and implement program improvements across governance and intake processes in coordination with Department Manager.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, electric vehicles, demand-side management, and/or other clean energy program a plus.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3 years relevent work experience.
  • Master's Degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, Business, or applicable degree and 5 years related work experience in a system engineering/analysis area.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive results by collaborating with stakeholders to build consensus, required.
  • Strong communication, presentation, writing, and analytical skills, required.
  • Experience creating requirements and tracking projects using Azure Dev Ops or a similar work management platform, required.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings to decompose business processes and identify changes needed to leverage analytics benefits, required.
  • Experience managing multiple products or projects simultaneously, required.
  • Experience with progress and status reporting across stakeholder groups, required.
  • Experience managing budgets and forecasts, preferred.
  • Experience developing resource plans for large projects and defining roles required for delivery, preferred.
  • Experience producing formal presentations and documentation for executive and regulatory audiences, preferred.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile program management and or transformation initiatives, preferred.
  • Experience with energy efficiency, demand-side management, electric vehicles, and or other clean energy programs from a utility or participating vendor perspective, preferred.
  • Familiarity with New York State climate and energy regulations including the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, Con Edison rate cases, New Efficiency New York, and related proceedings, preferred.
  • Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
