Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure) for multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders—including traders, quantitative researchers, developers, risk managers, and compliance teams—to gather requirements, define scope, and build detailed project plans, milestones, and timelines.
  • Manage technical projects related to trading systems, exchange integrations, FIX protocol implementations, market data infrastructure, or algorithmic trading enhancements.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and roadblocks early; develop mitigation strategies and escalate issues proactively to leadership.
  • Facilitate Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) or hybrid methodologies tailored to a fast-moving trading environment; track progress using tools like Jira, Confluence, or Asana.
  • Coordinate resources, budgets, and vendor relationships (e.g., for data center or cloud infrastructure projects).
  • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and best practices across the firm.
  • Support strategic initiatives, such as scaling trading operations, data center builds, or new market expansions.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: 3–7+ years as a Project Manager, preferably in a financial services, trading, fintech, or high-tech environment. Prior experience at a prop trading firm, market maker, hedge fund, or similar is highly preferred.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of trading technology concepts (e.g., low-latency systems, APIs, market microstructure, electronic trading platforms). Familiarity with FIX protocol, exchange connectivity, or infrastructure projects (data centers, networks) is a plus.
  • Methodologies: Proven expertise in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches. PMP, CSM, or similar certifications are beneficial but not required.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills—able to translate between technical and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in a high-pressure, deadline-driven setting.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Asana, MS Project, etc.) and collaboration platforms.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus).
  • Other: Ability to thrive in a collaborative yet competitive prop trading culture. Must be authorized to work in the US; this role may require occasional extended hours during market events or deployments.
