*Senior Technical Sales Representative Success Profile*
requires the following:
- 7 – 10 years’ experience in a technical sales role/field experience selling additives to the downstream coatings manufacturers with proven record of yearly
new business sales growth.
- 5 years working for a chemicals manufacturer
- 5 years must be in the coatings market
- Technical background – Lab or sales
- Must live in the
Sales Territory: Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Virginia
- preferably Eastern PA or NJ
- Willing to travel at least 50%+ of the time
- Additional preferred background: Experience selling defoamers, silicone additives and/or pigment dispersions
Purpose of the Job
• Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve growth targets aligned with established sales goals by identifying, pursuing and developing new business at existing and prospective accounts.
• Partner cross-functionally to align sales priorities with innovation and operational capabilities in order to achieve personal and company goals of positive sales growth over the next 5 years.
Job Responsibilities and Business Decisions
•
Grow territory revenue annually through new business acquisition, share expansion at existing accounts and recapture of lost business.
• Build executive-level and technical relationships to drive sustainable long-term growth demonstrating DyStar’s value proposition via regular weekly travels.
• Execute key account strategies, including opportunity mapping, project management, etc.
• Collaborate with Business Management and R&D to offer solutions that meet customer performance and regulatory needs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements to achieve commercial and margin objectives.
• Maintain accurate CRM data, customer contact information, call reports, pre-call plans and pipeline reports to enable effective business planning.
• Lead customer engagement through quarterly business reviews and technical presentations
• Obtain customer demand forecasting to feed financial forecasts and supply chain planning
• Resolve quality and service issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction in accordance with ISO procedures.
• Provide input to marketing and product management on emerging trends, unmet needs, and competitive dynamics.
• Develop required data for planning, budgeting and business reviews.

Required Education and Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of formulation chemistry, product performance, and application testing
• Skilled in consultative selling, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficient in CRM platforms and sales processes (e.g., pre-call planning, detailed call reporting, territory review updates, key account planning, pipeline management).
• Excellent communication, project management, strategic planning, and presentation skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage complex sales cycles with multiple technical and commercial stakeholders.
