Founding Product Designer (Systems & Product Architecture)

Vancouver / Remote (Flexible)

Ethereal is building a new category: a secure digital archive for meaningful objects—where provenance, documentation, and personal history live together.

We are looking for a
Founding Product Designer
to help translate a long-term product vision into a clear, structured system that can scale from early B2C to future B2B.

This is not a UI-focused role. This is about defining how the product works.

What You’ll Do

- Structure the Product Vision:
Translate high-level ideas into clear product phases (B2C → B2B)
- Define what gets built when, and why
- Design End-to-End Product Flows:
Map core user journeys
- Define how features connect across the platform
- Define Product Architecture (Non-Technical)
Structure how data, objects, and users interact
- Think through permissions, relationships, and scalability
- Ensure the system can support future partners (insurers, resellers, brands)
- Create Clear, Structured Documentation:
Develop a clean, intuitive “product blueprint”
- Produce flow diagrams and system logic that engineers can work from
- Enable faster and more thoughtful technical decisions
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally
Work closely with the founder and engineering
- Set up UX/UI designers for success with clear direction and structure

What We’re Looking For

• Strong product thinking and systems mindset
• Experience designing 0→1 or early-stage products
• Ability to simplify complex ideas into clear flows and frameworks
• Experience working closely with engineering teams
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and shaping structure from vision
• High taste level and attention to clarity, not just aesthetics
• Experience with platforms, marketplaces, or multi-sided products
• Experience thinking through data models or product architecture
• Background in both product strategy and design
