Job Summary
The Software Engineer III on the Experity OnePACS team is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting software solutions that power radiologist workflows, with a primary focus on our desktop medical image viewer. This role will take ownership of ongoing enhancement of a C# based client application that integrates with Java components and cloud-hosted backend services in AWS, while also contributing to the development of our web viewer built with React. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, sound engineering practices, and a collaborative mindset to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions in a complex medical imaging environment.
Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of custom desktop and web applications used in medical imaging workflows, including the development and modification of frontend and backend code.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following industry best practices. Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Collaborate with project teams on design specifications, system requirements, and technical solutions.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues in software applications and integrated services, and provide effective solutions to address them.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in software engineering and medical imaging and apply them to enhance software solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies. Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel

  • Ability to travel as needed (minimal).

Experience

  • Three or more years of developing applications using C#, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Experience building and maintaining client-side applications that integrate with backend services through RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with distributed systems, including applications that communicate with cloud-based services built with Java, Spring Boot, and deployed in AWS.
  • Experience developing modern web applications using TypeScript and JavaScript frameworks such as React.
  • Experience applying sound software engineering practices, including object-oriented design, software design patterns, and maintainable coding standards.
  • Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks such as NUnit, JUnit or equivalent.
  • Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments and participating in established release processes.

Preferred

  • Experience developing medical imaging or diagnostic viewer applications.
  • Familiarity with the DICOM standard and workflows.
  • Experience with medical imaging/viewer frameworks such as ClearCanvas, Cornerstone, or OHIF.
  • Experience contributing to both desktop and web-based viewer applications.
  • Experience with cloud and containerized development environments, including AWS and Docker.
