
Metrology Program Manager

I: Job Summary
The Metrology Program Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the Metrology Program, including calibration operations and technical staff performance. This role ensures the effective execution of calibration activities, compliance with internal and client procedures, and the continuous development of a high-performing team. The Metrology Program Manager drives accountability and applies sound decision-making, while maintaining alignment with JJA’s core values of Quality, Accountability and Integrity.

II: Responsibilities
Metrology Program Ownership
- Own and maintain the Metrology Program, serving as the point of accountability for all program elements, including procedures, standards, systems, and calibration execution.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve SOPs, work instructions, and best practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
- Own the lifecycle management of calibration standards, including procurement, handling, storage, traceability, inventory, and timely calibration, ensuring standards always remain compliant and audit ready.
- Ensure adherence to established labeling requirements, maintaining accuracy, legibility, and compliance.
- Ensure calibration activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures, manufacturer requirements, and defined tolerances.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive training program to ensure staff are qualified and capable of executing calibration activities.
- Ensure all calibration documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal quality requirements.
- Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all metrology activities are performed in compliance with internal and client safety requirements.
- Serve as system owner for CMMS (e.g., ProCal), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all calibration data.
- Oversee calibration scheduling, approvals, and database maintenance to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Maintain strict adherence to data integrity principles across all systems and documentation.
- Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
Operational Execution
- Drive on-time delivery through effective prioritization, organization, and real-time decision-making, ensuring alignment of team execution with site schedules and operational demands.
- Proactively identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, resource constraints, and operational risks to maintain uninterrupted service.
- Translate program priorities into clear, actionable plans to ensure consistent and efficient execution.
- Provide hands-on support as needed in complex or critical situations to ensure continuity of operations.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, coach, and develop Metrology staff to drive engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards; monitor and evaluate team performance against these expectations.
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and performance evaluations, providing timely, consistent, and constructive feedback to support development and continuous improvement.
- Address performance concerns proactively through coaching, root cause analysis, and, when necessary, appropriate disciplinary action.
- Foster a professional, supportive, and solution-oriented team environment that promotes ownership, accountability, and collaboration.
- Ensure team members are adequately trained, mentored, and equipped to perform their roles effectively and in compliance with procedures and quality standards.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with GxP requirements, client expectations, and internal Quality Management System (QMS) across all Metrology activities.
- Own and lead deviation management, including initiation, investigation, impact assessment, and closure, with a strong emphasis on Out of Tolerance (OOT) events and reverse traceability.
- Author clear, thorough, and compliant deviation reports, demonstrating strong technical writing skills and sound quality judgment.
- Perform and document root cause analysis and drive effective CAPAs to prevent recurrence of deviations and systemic issues.
- Maintain accountability for the quality and compliance of all calibration activities, with clear visibility into field execution and CMMS records to ensure adherence to procedures and data integrity standards.
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain clear, transparent, and timely communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring alignment on priorities, performance, and risks.
- Provide regular visibility to leadership on program status, key metrics, and emerging issues, with proactive escalation of risks and proposed solutions.
- Engage in client interactions as needed while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and ensuring expectations are clearly understood and met.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients and cross-functional partners to support collaboration and successful program execution.
III: Education, Experience & Skills
- 10+ years in the field of Metrology with 3+ years in a GxP industry.
- 2+ years in a supervisory Metrology role.
- Certified Calibration Technician preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Experience with ProCal Direct preferred.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment, facilities, standards and processes required.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize a diverse workload and apply effective problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
- Strong critical thinking and technical troubleshooting capabilities.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
