📝Some details about your department

We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer who excels in ambiguous environments. This role combines deep Google Cloud Platform (GCP) expertise with strong business acumen, focusing on pre-sales technical scoping and delivery oversight.

You will bridge the gap between clients and our Cloud for Marketing teams, translating client needs into scalable, high-impact solutions that drive Making Science’s Cloud & AI go-to-market strategy.

As a Solutions Architect, you will ensure technical feasibility and lead scalable development. You will translate marketing and business challenges into secure, cost-optimized GCP architectures while navigating the evolving landscape of AI with curiosity and initiative.

🎯 What we’d like you to do

Pre-Sales:

  • Solution Architecting: Design and pitch sophisticated marketing solutions leveraging the full Google stack, specifically focusing on BigQuery data warehousing, Vertex AI, and the application of Gemini for predictive and generative marketing use cases.
  • Feasibility & Scoping: Partner directly with the Cloud Consulting Practice lead to assess project feasibility and provide detailed technical scoping for proposals and statements of work (SOWs).
  • The "Bridge" Role: Act as the primary translator between the client’s business needs and our internal Data Science and Engineering teams. You must ensure that what is built in the lab matches the "Metric" and "Pain" identified in the field. You will expertlymap complex client business and marketing problems to robust, scalable, and innovative GCP solutions.
  • Workshops & Requirements: Lead pre-sales technical requirement gathering sessions and customer workshops, translating business needs into definitive technical specifications.

Delivery Scoping (Oversight & Collaboration):

  • Oversight & Context: Collaborate extensively with globally distributed delivery teams of Google Cloud Certified professionals, providing essential client context and architectural oversight instead of day-to-day hands-on delivery.
  • Client Advocacy: Lead technical discovery sessions and demos. You should love being in front of clients, asking the right questions, and digging deep into their data maturity.
  • Direct Deliverables

Technical Design:

  • Architecture & Documentation: Develop detailed architectural diagrams and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Service Selection: Select the most appropriate GCP services for specific workloads (e.g., PaaS vs. IaaS, optimal database choice) to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • GTM Solution Design: Help develop and document repeatable "productized" service offerings. You aren't just selling a one-off; you are building the foundation for how we scale our expertise.
  • Continuous Discovery: Proactively research and test new tools (e.g., Server-Side GTM/CAPI, Clean Rooms, etc) to determine how they can be integrated into our client offerings.

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in a Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant, or similar client-facing role, with a strong emphasis on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Deep technical experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and fluency in Google Marketing Platform (GMP). You should be comfortable designing and deploying scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on GCP and discussing GA4 event data, BigQuery ML, and LLM orchestration.
  • The Mindset: A proven track record of taking initiative in ambiguous environments. You don't wait for a manual; you build the solution.
  • Google Ecosystem Mastery: Adaptability: You enjoy the "pivot." If a new tool like Gemini 1.5 Pro changes the game tomorrow, you are the first one in the sandbox figuring out how to apply it.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to "speak both languages"—highly technical with data scientists and high-level/strategic with CMOs and VPs.

Technical Proficiency

  • Data/Cloud: BigQuery, Vertex AI, Looker, dbt.
  • Marketing Tech: Google Marketing Platform, GoogleAds, etc.
  • Privacy & Signal: Server-Side GTM, Google Tag Gateway, Conversions API (CAPI), and Consent Mode.
  • AI/ML: Prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and fine-tuning models via Gemini.

Preferred

  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certification
  • Additional Certifications (e.g., CloudProfessional Data Engineer, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies and tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins).
