The Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Legal Assistant / Paralegal Hybrid to join our Southbury, CT team. This is a dual-function role designed for a legal professional who enjoys the "best of both worlds"—managing high-level administrative tasks while also performing substantive paralegal work to support our attorneys through all phases of the litigation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Substantive Paralegal Support: Draft and prepare legal documents including motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and responses.
- Case Management: Utilize electronic case management systems to maintain file integrity, track deadlines, and manage a file diary system.
- Litigation Support: Coordinate depositions, defense medical exams (DMEs), and expert witness meetings.
- Administrative Excellence: Manage attorney calendars, handle court filings (state and federal e-filing), and maintain professional communication with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel.
- Trial Prep: Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits, notebooks, and subpoenas.
- Experience with CT & NY practice and courts
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in Insurance Defense or civil litigation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with legal case management software.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Connecticut Practice Book rules and state/federal e-filing procedures.
- Communication: Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with insurance adjusters and corporate clients.
- Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
