
Data Engineer
**IT Security Manager (12-month contract)

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Information, Data & AI, this 12-month maternity leave coverage role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure that support data-driven initiatives. As the volume and complexity of data continues to grow, this role ensures that data remains accessible, reliable, and secure, while enabling informed decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop efficient and scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into data platforms
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in pipelines and queries to ensure optimal data access
- Monitor data quality and implement improvements as needed
- Work with stakeholders to resolve data-related technical issues and support infrastructure needs
- Develop and maintain documentation for data pipeline architecture, development processes, and data governance standards
- Stay current with industry trends in cloud computing, data management, and AI
- Develop and maintain data integration standards and best practices
- Utilize DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) processes
- Provide hands-on support for data integration, including monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting, user administration, and optimization
- Collaborate closely with the Data Architect to design scalable data platforms
- Support implementation of effective data models and schemas
- Work with cybersecurity teams to establish and maintain access controls within analytics solutions
Qualifications And Experience
- College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in a Data Engineer role
- Azure or other cloud certifications (e.g., Fabric Data Engineer)
- Additional data or security-related certifications are considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of data privacy practices and relevant regulations
- Hands-on experience with cloud services, particularly Microsoft Fabric
- Strong programming and query language skills (Python, SQL, KQL)
- Familiarity with federated data governance and self-service data platforms
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate non-technical requirements into technical solutions
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
