Product Manager, Data Annotation Platform
Mind Robotics is building intelligent robotics for industrial deployment. We believe the fastest path to broadly capable robots is through clearly defined, high-impact environments. We are starting where the need is most acute and the environment is most exacting: the factory floor.
# Role Summary
This role is critical to owning the product vision and strategy for transforming raw collected data into structured, high-quality, and labeled datasets for training our models. You will drive the platform's development lifecycle, defining the roadmap and ensuring data integrity as volume scales to meet the outcomes required by the ML team.
# Key Responsibilities
## Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and maintain the core feature set for our data annotation plan as Product Requirements Documents (PRDs).
- Manage the product backlog for the annotation platform, prioritizing feature development, access, queue logic, and data export pipelines.
- Prioritize the annotation queue to align with the ML team’s data requests.
- Explore and integrate annotation platforms to support customisation and flexibility during the experimentation phase.
## Product Definition & Quality
- Define Mind Robotics’s definition of Data Quality and Data Diversity and build metrics to support
- Establish and monitor Inter-Annotator Agreement (IAA) as a key product quality metric, driving feature improvements to minimize variance.
- Specify requirements for model-assisted annotation features, such as pre-labeling models, to improve annotation throughput and fidelity.
## Stakeholder Management & Product Success
- Partner with Data Operations leadership on resourcing, training, and scaling the annotation workforce.
- Establish and track key product success metrics (KPIs), including queue velocity, IAA distribution, and rejection rate, reporting weekly to executive and ML stakeholders.
- Ensure the annotation output meets the evolving training needs of the ML models, prioritizing "Quality over Quantity" in the product design.
# Qualifications
- Background: 5+ years of Product Management experience, preferably in a data, ML, or platform-focused role.
- Product Documentation: Proven ability to write clear Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and user stories, and manage a product backlog.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with annotation platforms (e.g., CVAT, Label Studio, or similar) and a strong understanding of computer vision components for video processing.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to treat data collection as a product, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term quality and scaling goals.
- Experience: Proven track record in defining and maintaining structured annotation guidelines and sub-task ontologies.
