Senior Test Engineer
OTECH is seeking a motivated early‑career Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of advanced subsea systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with foundational hands‑on experience who is eager to learn, contribute to multidisciplinary teams, and gain exposure to real-world testing in challenging ocean environments.
The engineer in this role will assist senior staff with system integration, verification and validation activities, troubleshooting, and field operations for underwater systems.
Required
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering. Other relevant technical BS degrees considered.
- 2 to 8 years of practical experience in Systems Engineering including the following:
- Contributing to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation including TEMPs, test plans and procedures, test readiness reviews, and RVTMs.
- Managing system test requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that meet system requirement.
- Participating in test events.
- Basic understanding of electromechanical systems or embedded software interactions.
- Familiarity with test equipment, data acquisition tools, or lab instrumentation.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment and follow established workflows.
- Ability to travel for testing, including occasional at‑sea operations.
- US citizenship is required. Minimum ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Ability to interpret drawings and schematics for complex electro-mechanical systems.
Desired
- Experience with underwater robotics, maritime systems, or oceanographic sensors (academic or professional).
- Basic skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar analysis tools.
- Hands‑on lab, prototyping, or field‑testing experience.
- Ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance with CI polygraph.
- Experience with US DoD.
- Working knowledge of systems centered software such as Cradle, Cameo, SysML, DOORS, ModelCenter, or equivalent software.

Compensation $74,600.00 - $112,000.00
- Assist in integrating hardware, software, and sensors into subsea robotic systems
- Support planning and execution of laboratory, dockside, and at-sea testing
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of electromechanical and embedded systems
- Collect, analyze, and organize test data for reporting and documentation
- Contribute to the development of test procedures, checklists, and verification artifacts
- Participate in field testing, including system deployments and data collection
- Maintain configuration control, documentation, and adherence to engineering processes
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams
