Our Newest Opportunity:
The Junior Security Analyst plays a vital role in protecting the organization's network and data infrastructure. This position involves monitoring security systems, analyzing alerts, and assisting in the mitigation of potential cyber threats. The ideal candidate will work closely with the senior security team to maintain a robust security posture while continually developing their skills in threat detection and incident response.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) system for suspicious activities and potential threats.
- Conduct initial triage and investigation of security alerts, escalating critical issues to senior analysts.
- Assist in performing regular vulnerability scans and coordinate with IT teams to apply necessary patches.
- Document security incidents, investigations, and remediation steps in the ticketing system.
- Help maintain and update security policies, procedures, and response playbooks.
- Participate in security awareness training initiatives for company employees.
- Assist in completion of security questionnaires.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
- Strong understanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
- Familiarity with common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
- Basic knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively investigate security events.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting incidents and collaborating with team members.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and evolving security landscapes.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in an IT or security-focused role. Previous internship experience in cybersecurity is a strong plus.
- Entry-level security certifications such as CompTIA Security+ are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Windows and MacOS.
Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance.
