Job Summary:
The Senior Basketball Software Engineer will serve as both a key architect and developer within the Basketball Operations department. In this role, you will lead the development of critical tools and web applications through the design of scalable architectures, intuitive user interfaces, and robust data pipelines. Your work will provide the digital foundation for the franchise’s most critical decisions in player evaluation, roster construction, cap management, and long-term planning. This role is ideal for a leader with strong technical capabilities and a passion for using technology and insights to drive sustainable success. This position requires unconventional hours including working in the evenings, weekends and on holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of modular software architectures that ensure the stability and scalability required for basketball operations.
  • Build and maintain the core components of an internal basketball operations website, including scouting reports, advanced analytics, and player information.
  • Develop interactive tools and visualizations that allow users to explore complex dataset, identify player tends, and extract actional insights.
  • Partner directly with analysts, scouts, and executives to translate operational workflows into intuitive digital tools that support scouting, coaching, and roster management.
  • Drive engineering excellence by establishing coding standards, leading code reviews, and mentoring junior developers.
  • Oversee the integration of third-party data streams and internal API services.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and wireframing software (preferred)
  • Represents the Kings in a professional manner while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years dedicated to full-stack engineering.
  • Extensive experience with modern frameworks (e.g. React, Vue), including an understanding of statement management and responsive interfaces.
  • Proficiency in building RESTful services, including API security and performance optimization.
  • Ability to manage cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) to host, deploy and scale web applications.
  • Experience managing and optimizing relational databases and complex ETL processes.

Total compensation & offer package will include the following:

  • Base Salary: $130,000 - $150,000
