Job Description

As an Accessibility and Content Editor with OMES you will enjoy:

Job Details

  • Full-time 40-hour work weeks.
  • Support all divisions of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services and other agencies.
  • Salary is up $52,500 based on background and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist with researching, writing and editing informational and educational publications, bulletins, powerpoints, pamphlets and other communication materials.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation errors following AP Style guides.
  • Fact-check customer content.
  • Ensure documents are 508-compliant, readable to the target audience and comply with OMES branding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or Journalism.
  • Four years of professional experience in journalism/copy editing.
  • Adobe CommonLook for remediation experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Top-level knowledge of the copy editing and proofreading processes.
  • Strong proficiency in written, visual and oral communications.
  • Proficiency with the track/edit tool functions in Word.
  • Proficiency with the comments tool in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Competency using Adobe CommonLook for remediation.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 for communication purposes, including Teams meetings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
  • This position requires hours of reading daily.
