CRD Wealth Sales Engineer, VP

Following the continued growth of Charles River’s Wealth business within the State Street, CRD is seeking a Sales Engineer to join the Sales Engineering team within US sales, supporting sales of investment lifecycle and data management capabilities to its clients.
The Sales Engineers lead the pre-sales effort to educate prospects and existing clients in the use, features, and benefits of the solution. A core component is software demonstration and enthusiastic product presentation. Additionally, they work closely with the outside sales representatives to ensure all product, workflow, and best practice questions and objections are thoroughly addressed.

What you will be responsible for:
As an CRD Sales Engineer you will be involved in a variety of activities, typically as follows:
- Preparation and detailed product presentation and demonstration to highly sophisticated investment professionals
- Follow up with prospects to close out any unanswered questions or objections
- Represent CRD at conferences and trade show exhibits
- Coordinate or assist in general prospect visits or product test pilot projects
- Assist with RFP or request for information (RFI) preparation
Required Skills and Experience:
“Required Knowledge” The core attributes of a successful CRD sales engineer:
- the person needs to be advanced/competent in CR IMS and financial topics
- must be a good speaker
- client-facing experience (ideally implementation projects and knowing the complexity of delivering CRD at clients)
- implementation experience would be ideal, sales experience is a bonus
- CRD wealth experience is ideal, but can be learned
- Knowledge of core CR IMS
- Basic knowledge of UMAs and/or rebalancer/optimizer would be ideal but can be learned
- Experience & Qualifications:
- Implementation/consulting experience in front/middle office is equally (if not more important) than sales experience
- “understanding key topics and trends”:
- private credit and alternatives is not essential, can be learned
Experience in demonstrating software solutions within the buy-side Wealth management market is critical.
Knowledge and experience of the following areas gained either through software solution vendors, buy-side investment managers, or consultancy:
- Investment Management workflow requirements across public markets including portfolio management and construction, risk, compliance, trading and middle office.
- Knowledge and experience of the challenges in investment management relating to point-solution proliferation, rationalization strategies onto single platforms, and the end-to-end investment lifecycle.
- Evaluation and set up of security master reference data, pricing, analytics, positions/holdings, corporate actions, index/benchmark data, fund/account information.
- Awareness of typical technical landscape within a modern enterprise SaaS Applications including MS Azure, Snowflake, SQL, ETL tools, and machine learning models.
- Knowledge of data vendors such as Bloomberg, Refinitv, MSCI, etc., other index and ESG data providers.
- Hands on experience with at least one of the following systems – Simcorp Dimension, Blackrock Aladdin, Bloomberg AIM, S&P ThinkFolio, NeoXam
Proven written and verbal communication skills including:
- Ability to provide succinct and accurate responses to questions within the Investment Management segment.
- Written responses to RFP and RFI questions.
- Presentations to investment management business users
- Ad-Hoc written and verbal responses to questions raised by investment management business users.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Knowledge and awareness of the technology considerations relating to investment management platforms and their ecosystem in client architectures.
Awareness of the competitor solutions currently being used within the Investment Management industry.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working within a pre-sales or similar role
- Prior industry experience with Wealth investment management, either with software platforms, service providers or in consultancy
- Strong understanding of investment lifecycle management processes and requirements
- Understanding of key topics and trends, including passive and ETFs, LDI strategies, derivatives overlay, multi-manager / OCIO, private credit and alternatives.
- Good understanding of financial investment products across asset classes and workflows
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, ability to gather and understand requirements in the financial sector.
- Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility with schedule and ability to work beyond regular business hours and travel as required.
- Demonstrated planning and scheduling skills.
- Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and deal with the inevitable surprises that are part of a dynamic environment.
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $207,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
