About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Data Scientist to join Stripe’s Growth and Go-to-Market data science organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence and accelerate Stripe’s growth initiatives through advanced data science techniques and strategic insights. You will be responsible for leading cross-functional projects that leverage experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, personalization, and algorithmic recommendations to enable businesses to accept payments more efficiently and discover additional Stripe financial products suited to their growth needs. Your expertise will help deliver comprehensive ROI analysis of marketing spend, optimize growth strategies, and develop scalable data products that drive business outcomes. As a key partner to teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Strategy, you will shape the data-driven future of Stripe’s growth engine, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in data science practices.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent combined industry and research experience.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, Quantitative Marketing, Physical Sciences, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Proficiency in modern causal inference techniques and their application in business contexts.
- Proven track record of leading organization-wide initiatives that span multiple teams and influence technical roadmaps.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in designing and implementing scalable data science solutions, including machine learning, statistical models, and forecasting frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring peers and developing talent within data science teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance to cross-functional teams on business growth initiatives, leveraging expertise in causal inference, experimentation, and data modeling.
- Lead technical efforts in experimentation, attribution, forecasting, and observability, offering hands-on leadership to resolve complex data challenges.
- Identify key company problems and opportunities that can be addressed through data science, designing solutions that create significant value for users and the business.
- Contribute to the development of the data science team’s strategy, roadmap, and overall vision, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Promote best practices in data science, inspiring teams through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and leading by example.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and sales teams to create end-to-end data products and measurement plans that support growth objectives.
- Drive scalable and sustainable data science solutions, ensuring their deployment and integration into Stripe’s systems and processes.
