About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Data Foundations team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, models, and products that support critical functions across Stripe, including Product, Data Science, and Go-To-Market teams. Your work will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of data that drive strategic decision-making and operational excellence. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Spark, Scala, and Airflow, and to contribute to the foundational data infrastructure that powers Stripe’s global operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex data challenges, improve data quality, and build scalable data solutions that impact millions of users worldwide.
Qualifications

• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role, with a focus on data services or data-intensive applications
• Strong engineering background with an interest in data systems and architecture
• Experience writing and debugging data pipelines using distributed frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, or Pig
• Proficiency in backend development languages such as Scala, Java, or Go
• Extensive SQL experience with the ability to derive insights and troubleshoot data issues
• Ability to communicate effectively across teams, gather requirements, and design shared datasets
• Inquisitive mindset with a keen eye for identifying and resolving data inconsistencies and quality issues

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own data pipelines, models, and products that support the Product, Data Science, and GTM functions
• Manage service level agreements (SLAs) for data pipelines and full-stack web applications supporting key stakeholders
• Build and enhance Stripe’s data infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling using technologies like Scala, Spark, and Airflow
• Leverage large language models (LLMs) and AI agents to produce high-quality data solutions for complex problems
• Refine existing data marts to support forecasting, performance measurement, and strategic planning for the GTM organization
• Develop data services that track key product metrics and evaluate the impact of various business strategies
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand data needs, architect solutions, and ensure data quality and consistency
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize data processes and infrastructure
