About The Role
Peraton is seeking an experienced Automated Testing QA Engineer (Journeyman) to join our team supporting the MODES III program, which focuses on Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP). This remote position requires an active Secret clearance and involves designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites to ensure the quality and reliability of various deliverables including websites, applications, APIs, and platform services. The successful candidate will play a critical role in validating program outputs, supporting continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and ensuring compliance with security and accessibility standards. The role offers an opportunity to work on high-impact government projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the enhancement of military community support systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in test automation, security testing, and experience working within federal or DoD environments.
Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA), or 3 years with a Master’s degree (MS/MA), or 1 year with a PhD. Alternatively, 9 years of experience without a degree or 7 years with an Associate’s/AAS degree.
  • Demonstrated capability within the Cyberspace IT workforce, including industry certifications such as A+ or Network+ or equivalent military/educational training as per DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix.
  • Proficiency with automated testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, JUnit, pytest, Postman/Newman, REST-assured.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, CodeBuild, or CodePipeline.
  • Strong understanding of test architecture, security testing (SAST/DAST), performance testing (JMeter, Gatling), and test data management.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG) and remediation workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites to validate MODES III program deliverables, including websites, applications, APIs, and platform services.
  • Develop and execute automated functional, integration, regression, and API tests to verify application behavior, security, and performance prior to production releases.
  • Implement automated accessibility checks and produce reports to ensure compliance with Section 508/WCAG standards, collaborating with developers to resolve issues.
  • Integrate automated testing processes into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring tests are part of pipeline gates and support DevSecOps and RMF/ATO compliance efforts.
  • Build and maintain test data pipelines, synthetic telemetry, and coordinate with Data Engineers and DBAs for environment provisioning and data masking.
  • Create detailed Test Plans, Test Cases, and Acceptance Criteria aligned with user stories and DoD requirements, translating them into automated test artifacts.
  • Perform performance and load testing to assess system capacity, scalability, and web health metrics, providing insights for optimization and capacity planning.
  • Triaging defects, participating in incident response, and tracking defect resolution through ticketing systems, ensuring quality metrics are reported accurately.
  • Maintain and enhance automated test frameworks, mentoring junior QA engineers on automation best practices, security testing, and test orchestration tools.
  • Stay updated with the latest testing methodologies, security standards, and industry best practices to continuously improve testing processes.
