About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team remotely or at our Chandler, AZ location. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, this full-time exempt position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for managing scalable, reliable systems that support our learning platform, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and security. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, support cloud migration projects, and establish best practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, strategic thinking, and a passion for building resilient, efficient systems that drive operational excellence and innovation.
Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS Fargate, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC networking, and S3
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Pulumi (preferred) or Terraform
  • Experience building, deploying, and maintaining Docker containers for Ruby on Rails and/or .NET applications
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions across multiple programming environments (Ruby, .NET, Python, Node.js/TypeScript)
  • Proven track record of improving observability, uptime, and operational maturity in production environments
  • Strong understanding of relational database management, performance tuning, and backup strategies
  • Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, and secure architecture design
  • Ability to operate independently with high ownership in a remote work setting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize AWS infrastructure components such as ECS clusters, networking, and service reliability
  • Enhance observability through comprehensive logging, tracing, alerting, and dashboard creation
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions across diverse codebases
  • Support migration efforts from Azure to AWS, including containerization and database transitions
  • Optimize Docker images and container standards for Ruby on Rails and .NET applications
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to improve deployment strategies and developer experience
  • Create and maintain documentation such as runbooks and architecture decision records (ADRs)
  • Support cloud cost management and resource optimization initiatives
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance across infrastructure components
  • Lead or contribute to modernization projects, including cloud migration and infrastructure automation
