Sr. Technical Project Manager, Special Operations
What To Expect
As a Special Operations Project Manager, you will be a key contributor in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role focuses on logistics, coordination, documentation, processes, design, and deployment planning for innovative and high-priority deployments of Tesla's Energy Assets. Responsibilities will encompass special projects for both internal and external high-importance customers, addressing critical infrastructure needs, equipment testing, and unique deployments across diverse end-users. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including logistics, field service, engineering, internal systems teams, and both internal and external customers.
Tesla sets the standard for trustworthy and resilient energy infrastructure. The Commercial Self-Perform team plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional customer experience by proactively engaging with and expanding our energy infrastructure.
The role is based at Tesla's offices in Palo Alto, CA, Reno, NV, or Austin, TX.
What You'll Do- Direct project and construction management effort, often centered on special operational activities, including logistics, documentation, and stakeholder communications—often under tight deadlines and short notice—while integrating emerging products and utilizing both internal and external labor forces
- Review and optimize deployment processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Support unit modifications and homebase management, including on-site travel to assist deployments, inspect assets, and coordinate with various internal stakeholders
- Plan and execute strategic deployments of Megapack, Supercharger, Semi Charger, and PV systems to meet customer requirements, support product testing, and provide energy infrastructure for broader company initiatives
- Drive continuous improvements in efficiency through the optimization of internal systems and new product deployment feedback
- Perform and assist other Project Management duties within the Self Perform organization, as needed
What You'll Bring- Willingness to travel to project locations as needed (60-75% travel), often on short notice, including international assignments
- Strong safety focus with an ability to understand non-standard site layouts and processes
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong focus on efficiency and prioritization
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proactive mindset to anticipate challenges and resolve them before they escalate into costly issues
- Highly energetic and adaptable personality, with flexibility to handle critical tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience as the subject matter expert, across a variety of product types
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Expected Compensation
$96,800 - $336,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
