POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: MEP Senior Project Manager

Position Overview

The MEP Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and financial performance of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) scopes from preconstruction through project closeout. This role provides both strategic project leadership and field coordination oversight to ensure MEP systems are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and quality standards.

The MEP Senior Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for MEP scope performance and acts as the central liaison between ownership, design teams, field leadership, and subcontractors. This role protects and promotes the interests of the company and Owner while proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and driving successful project outcomes.

Principal Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Provide overall leadership for all MEP project phases including preconstruction, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop and manage MEP project execution plans including staffing strategy, logistics, phasing, and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure MEP work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents to align field operations with project schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

Budget, Cost Control & Contracts

  • Prepare and manage MEP budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Review and approve subcontractor pay applications, change orders, and material invoices.
  • Lead contract administration for all MEP subcontractors including scope alignment, compliance, and performance evaluation.
  • Identify cost risks and implement corrective actions to maintain financial targets.
  • Manage all MEP-related change management including pricing, documentation, negotiation, and client approval.

Scheduling & Procurement

  • Lead development of detailed MEP schedules in coordination with project leadership and field teams.
  • Monitor progress and implement recovery strategies to maintain milestone commitments.
  • Oversee procurement strategy for major MEP equipment and materials to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to maintain supply chain reliability.

Technical Oversight & Coordination

  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals for completeness, constructability, and compliance.
  • Identify design deficiencies or coordination conflicts and lead resolution with design professionals.
  • Oversee integration of all MEP systems with structural, architectural, and civil components.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover of all MEP systems.

Field Operations & Quality Control

  • Provide executive-level support to MEP Superintendents and field teams.
  • Ensure implementation of project-specific quality control procedures.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Oversee inspections, testing agencies, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to occupied facilities when applicable.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as primary client contact for all MEP-related matters.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, engineers, consultants, inspectors, vendors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Lead project meetings related to MEP scope, progress, and risk management.
  • Provide regular project status reporting including schedule, cost, risk, and quality metrics.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all company and project safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety accountability across all MEP trades.
  • Support investigation and reporting of incidents and implementation of corrective measures.

Project Closeout

  • Oversee completion of commissioning, punch list resolution, and system turnover.
  • Ensure delivery of as-built documentation, warranties, and O&M manuals.
  • Lead final project reconciliation and closeout documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship to project engineers, coordinators, and field leadership.
  • Support business development and preconstruction efforts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required to support project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience managing MEP scopes on commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems installation and coordination.
  • Proven leadership ability across both field and office teams.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software (Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, change management, and cost control practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project environments.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.

Pay: $230,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
