
IT Support Assistant - Canada Summer Jobs Program
The Shared Services Unit of The United Church of Canada is seeking an individual to fill the role of IT Support Assistant as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program for 2026. This is an 8-week program at 35 hours per week with an anticipated start date of May 25, 2026.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in enterprise IT operations within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will support day-to-day technical operations and contribute to real projects that improve the organization’s technology systems. Responsibilities include: Providing front-line technical support to end users, including troubleshooting issues with hardware, software, printers, and network connectivity; Assisting with setup, configuration, and maintenance of computers, peripherals, and mobile devicesSupport the deployment and management of Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, and OneDrive; Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and system configurations to maintain accurate records; Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access permissions, and equipment preparation.
Learning Opportunities:
- Gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams) and Azure services.
- Learn how to manage and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 devices and Dell hardware.
- Become familiar with Dynamics 365 CRM and Business Central systems used across the organization.
- Learn to work with modern IT service management tools, including Zendesk for ticketing and reporting.
- Gain exposure to CIRA Cybersecurity Awareness Training and best practices in organizational security.
- Learn how to support cloud-first environments, including user access, data governance, and security compliance.
## Qualifications
- Youth between the ages of 18 to 30 are eligible to apply for this position
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Post secondary education
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written ability, excellent communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office – ability to work with computers and basic platforms such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge and basic understanding of the United Church is an asset
