Position Summary
Power Scholars Academy (PSA)
is a summer program designed to prevent learning loss and provide academic support. It serves K-8 students from San Francisco and San Mateo County, helping them strengthen their academic foundation as well as social-emotional and critical thinking skills. Students participate in daily math and literacy instruction with credentialed teachers for three hours a day, four days a week, to address learning gaps and prepare for the upcoming school year.
The PSA Program Manager leads the overall implementation of the Power Scholars Academy site model, overseeing program quality, staff supervision, family partnerships, logistics, and day-to-day operations. This role works closely with the Association Program Lead, branch leadership, district partners and on-site staff to ensure a safe, well-run program that delivers strong scholar outcomes and a positive summer experience.

Job Responsibilities
Pre

Program Planning & Support

  • Participate in summer program planning prior to program launch.
  • Collaborate with the recruitment team to support staff selection and onboarding.
  • Support the development and execution of site enrollment plans, including family outreach, enrollment events, and completion of required documentation.
  • Conduct follow-up communications with families as needed.
  • Ensure all curriculum materials and supplies are received and distributed prior to program start.
  • Deliver on-site staff training in collaboration with the Instructional Specialist Coach and site leadership team to support a successful program launch.

Program Management & Operations

  • Oversee daily program operations to ensure program goals are achieved for each scholar.
  • Manage, supervise, and evaluate staff to maintain appropriate staffing ratios, instructional quality, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Coordinate activities and events for scholars, families, and staff, including field trips, guest speakers, and community service projects.
  • Manage and monitor the program budget in alignment with established financial guidelines.
  • Ensure curriculum materials and supplies are maintained and replenished throughout the program.
  • Use data-driven instruction practices, including formative assessments, to support scholar progress.
  • Partner closely with the Instructional Specialist Coach to ensure instruction is engaging, rigorous, and responsive to scholar needs.
  • Implement and maintain a positive behavior management system aligned with school, district, and state guidelines.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and supervision of scholars at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable program regulations and requirements.

Family & Community Partnerships

  • Serve as a primary liaison between Power Scholars Academy and scholars’ families to support student learning and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with school sites and key stakeholders, including district administrators and school staff.
  • Coordinate family engagement activities that foster collaboration and shared responsibility for scholar success.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
PSA Program Managers work in dynamic classroom settings that may include both indoor and outdoor spaces, engaging in activities that require moderate physical activity, such as standing, walking, and interacting with staff and students. The role requires the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, maintain a positive and engaging demeanor, and meet the physical demands of teaching and supervision, including handling classroom materials and technology.

Salary Description
The hourly rate for the PSA Program Manager position ranges from
$32.00 to $42.00 per hour
, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with industry salary benchmarks. This rate is determined in accordance with grant funding approvals and organizational compensation guidelines.
