Role summary

3D Infotech is seeking a Metrology Automation Engineer for its Universal Metrology Automation (UMA) team in Irvine, CA. This role involves using robotics and metrology software/hardware to solve manufacturing quality control problems and develop next-generation metrology automation software. The engineer will learn and master metrology, machine vision, and Deep Learning (AI) software, work with Jira for project management, perform testing, conduct installations and training at customer sites, and work on customer parts for demonstrations. Travel up to 50% is required. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, minimum 2 years of experience, experience with industrial robots and PLCs, and coding/scripting skills.

3D Infotech is a growing company that provides portable and automated metrology solutions to aerospace and automotive companies. We are seeking a Metrology Automation Engineer to join our Universal Metrology Automation (UMA) team in Irvine, CA. who will be responsible for using robotics and metrology software and hardware to solve manufacturing problems for quality control applications.

The Metrology Automation Engineer will be in charge of developing the next generation software for metrology automation.

The Opportunity

As a key member of our Metrology Automation team, you will:

  • Learn and master 3D metrology, machine vision, and Deep Learning (AI) software
  • Deliver the next-generation of metrology automation software
  • Work in a small and flexible team with plenty of space to grow
  • Use Jira project management tool to maintain all ongoing activities in automation projects
  • Perform hardware and software testing
  • Prepare for and conduct system acceptance testing
  • Conduct system installation and training at customer sites
  • Work on customer parts for proof-of-concept demonstrations
  • Keep projects on time and under budget
  • Work on project documentation
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time

Required Qualification

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with Industrial Robots, PLCs and such
  • Familiar with Agile/SCRUM
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Some coding/scripting skills

  • Relocate to the Irvine area if necessary

· Must be a Permanent resident or US citizen

Nice to have Skills

  • Knowledge of product design (SolidWorks), metrology, 3D scanning and related
  • Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)
