This is a senior-level opportunity for a commercial HVAC technician who can independently diagnose and resolve complex system issues. You'll spend most of your time working autonomously in the field while also serving as a technical resource for less-experienced technicians.

What You'll Do

  • Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on refrigeration systems, economizers, VAV boxes, pneumatic controls, VRF systems, and related equipment.
  • Complete advanced preventative maintenance and in-depth equipment inspections.
  • Optimize HVAC system performance and energy efficiency.
  • Oversee larger commercial HVAC installation and retrofit projects.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on complex equipment installations and start-ups.
  • Diagnose mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and controls-related problems.
  • Design and implement HVAC solutions based on customer needs.
  • Provide technical support on difficult and complex service issues.
  • Train, mentor, and support apprentices and less-experienced technicians.
  • Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
  • Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and excellent service.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience working with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Valid CFC / EPA 608 refrigeration certification.
  • Expert knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
  • Strong independent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of VRF systems and building automation systems (BAS).
  • Experience managing large-scale HVAC projects.
  • Knowledge of advanced refrigerant management and environmental considerations.
  • Understanding of HVAC system design, load calculations, and energy modeling.
  • Familiarity with emerging HVAC technologies and industry trends.
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a company vehicle.
  • Ability to work after hours when needed.
  • Strong customer service, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, with the ability to learn additional software.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on field service position that may require:

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Working in mechanical rooms and other confined or tight spaces.
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • Climbing ladders and safely working at heights.
  • Working indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather.
  • Using personal hand tools.
  • Working safely around normal commercial construction and jobsite hazards.
