In this role, as a
Lead Software Engineer you will design and deliver software solutions that solve real business problems within ADP’s established enterprise environment. You will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate effectively with senior leaders, while staying hands-on across the SDLC with a high bar for quality, security, and reliability.

What You’ll Do
- Solution design: Translate business needs into technical designs that fit ADP’s platforms, data, and operating constraints.
- Build & deliver: Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software and configuration changes across the SDLC.
- Quality & risk: Raise the bar on testing, code quality, security practices, and operational readiness.
- Stakeholder partnership: Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, security, QA, training, project management, hosting, and procurement to deliver outcomes.
- Technical leadership: Lead projects and/or functional teams through influence, technical direction, and strong execution (this role may be a non-people “functional leadership” position).
- Business immersion: Engage directly with internal and external clients to understand processes, data, and domain context (including payroll processing).
- Results & domain fluency: Operate with a results-oriented mindset; bring knowledge of new and legacy technologies, relevant platforms and environments, and domain business processes, functions, and data to deliver innovative, insightful, and secure solutions.
- Continuous learning: Stay current through self-training and company-supported training opportunities.
- Responsible AI: Embrace AI tools and apply them responsibly within governing frameworks.
Experience You’ll Need
- 8+ years of experience in application design and development
- Strong experience with Python, .NET (C# or VB.NET), Microsoft SQL Server, and WCF Web Services
- Hands-on experience with Angular, JavaScript, CSS, unit testing, ETL, data encryption, security, REST & SOAP APIs, Kubernetes, and Git
- Prompt engineeringexperience with tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Amazon Q
- Strong business analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practices
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and business initiatives
- Exceptional communication skills, including comfort interacting with executive leadership
- Direct customer/client interaction experience
- Experience with payroll / payroll processing and tax
- Ability to work independently, with guidance primarily for the most complex situations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience (5+ years preferred)
- Strong T-SQL programming skills
- Web development frameworks (e.g., Telerik)
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- Reporting/BI tools: Power BI, Tableau, Crystal Reports, Power BI Report Server
- Alteryx
- Automic (UC4) job scheduling experience
- GIS experience
- Databricks
- Diverse IDE experience (VSCode, PyCharm, Amazon Q Developer, Kiro)
- Agentic frameworks (Crew, LangGraph, Autogen, Strands)

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity or commissions. We offer the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Matched Retirement Savings, Wellness Program, Short-and Long-Term Disability, Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Paid Volunteer Time Off, and more. The compensation for this role is USD $79,800.00 - USD $213,930.00 / Year\*
- Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage or minimum exempt salary requirement under federal, state and local laws.
