Position Summary
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and advancing the organization’s data infrastructure and AI capabilities to support operational execution, enterprise reporting, and strategic decision-making. This role will lead the integration of Microsoft Fabric data environments with AI platforms, including Anthropic Claude, to deliver intelligent, scalable solutions across the business.
This position will develop AI-enriched data pipelines, transform enterprise data into actionable insights, and deliver high-impact reporting through Power BI dashboards. As the sole owner of this function, the role operates with a high degree of autonomy and partners closely with senior leadership to define, prioritize, and expand data and AI use cases that drive efficiency, visibility, and performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Dataflows) and related Azure technologies
- Integrate AI and large language model (LLM) capabilities (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) into internal systems and workflows
- Build and maintain curated datasets that support automated insights, classification, anomaly detection, and recommendation engines
- Develop and manage Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models to support executive and operational reporting
- Create AI-driven models for inventory management, forecasting, demand planning, and operational optimization
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code for data processing, automation, and API integrations
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and reliability across all data pipelines and systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and business stakeholders to identify and prioritize high-impact data and AI initiatives
- Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously recommend improvements to tools, processes, and architecture
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, or comparable modern cloud data platforms
- Strong proficiency in Python, including data engineering workflows, automation, and API development
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in data modeling and optimization
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and JSON-based data integrations
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components, including Notebooks, Lakehouses, and Data Pipelines
- Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude) into production environments
- Industry experience in manufacturing, aviation, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), or supply chain operations
- Experience developing forecasting, optimization, or predictive analytics models
- Familiarity with Azure Key Vault or other secrets management solutions
- Power BI certification or a strong portfolio demonstrating advanced dashboarding and data visualization capabilities
