Role summary

As a Data Scientist, you will transform complex data into actionable intelligence by developing and implementing statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques. You will create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, and produce insightful data visualizations. This role involves working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract information from diverse data formats, develop scripts, and translate qualitative goals into quantitative software prototypes. A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and at least one year of experience in data analysis and programming with tools like R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB are required, along with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Summary

As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in transforming raw, complex data into actionable intelligence. You will bridge the gap between qualitative mission goals and quantitative software solutions, working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to extract insights from diverse data formats. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional who enjoys developing scripts, implementing machine learning techniques, and creating data visualizations that reveal the underlying meaning of large-scale datasets.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and heuristic techniques to create descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
  • Develop statistical tests to make data-driven recommendations and decisions
  • Produce data visualizations that provide insight into dataset structure and meaning
  • Incorporate SME input into feature vectors suitable for analytic development and testing
  • Translate qualitative analysis processes and goals into quantitative formulations coded into software prototypes
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify important information in raw data and develop scripts that extract this from various formats (e.g., SQL tables, structured metadata, network logs)

Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, operations research, engineering, or computer science)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience analyzing datasets and developing analytics, *plus* one (1) year of experience programming with data analysis software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB
  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Experience in software or cloud development
  • Experience developing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics

Salary Range: $125,500 - $219,500

The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.

The salary range for this role is:

$125,500 - $197,400
