Food Security Program Manager (Term Position)
Role summary
The Food Security Program Manager will lead initiatives focused on enhancing access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food for Black families, addressing both immediate needs and developing sustainable, long-term solutions. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing programs, coordinating distribution systems and partnerships, exploring innovative approaches like community kitchens, managing budgets and logistics, and supervising staff and volunteers. The role requires knowledge of food systems and insecurity issues, strong program development and partnership-building skills, and leadership capabilities. This is a term position located onsite.
The Food Security Program Manager will lead initiatives that improve access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food for Black families, including both immediate support and longer-term solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement food security programs
- Coordinate food distribution systems and partnerships
- Develop culturally appropriate food initiatives
- Explore sustainable solutions (e.g., community kitchens, partnerships)
- Monitor program performance and reporting
- Manage budgets, resources, and logistics
- Supervise staff and volunteers
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Community Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience managing food security or community programs
- Knowledge of food systems and food insecurity issues
- Strong partnership-building and program development skills
- Experience working with ACB or diverse communities is an asset
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
