About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge mobile applications that enhance our customers' financial experiences. You will lead technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and mentor junior team members, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative Android solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of mobile technology, leveraging cloud-native architectures, microservices, and open-source tools to create impactful products.
As part of our team, you will contribute to projects that empower users to monitor and manage their credit scores, view and edit personal information within the mobile app, and access tools like Quick Check to determine credit card approval chances before applying. Your expertise will help shape the future of our mobile offerings, ensuring they are secure, user-friendly, and aligned with industry best practices. This role does not involve direct reports but emphasizes advanced hands-on development, technical design, and architecture leadership.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in native Android application development using Java or Kotlin, coupled with a solid background in application and data design, architecture, and development. Proven expertise with modern Android development tools such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins is essential. The candidate should also have a strong educational background, holding a Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience mentoring junior and intermediate associates and guiding technical and business stakeholders is highly valued.
Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design, architecture, and development of cross-platform application systems that serve our customers effectively.
  • Collaborate within a dynamic mobile team throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle, from planning to deployment.
  • Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across various development tools and technologies.
  • Provide expertise on how emerging technologies impact our domain, ensuring our products remain innovative and competitive.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers to foster growth and maintain high standards of technical excellence.
