About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join our dedicated legal team in Fort Worth. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive legal support related to land titles, ownership rights, and property interests in key oil and gas regions including Texas, Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years' experience specializing in title examination and opinion drafting within the oil and gas sector. The position requires a detail-oriented professional capable of analyzing complex legal documents, advising on compliance issues, and representing the company in legal proceedings. This is an onsite opportunity designed for a proactive individual eager to contribute to the company’s legal strategies and operational success in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in at least one state. Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in oil and gas title examination, with particular expertise in drafting title opinions, analyzing leases, deeds, and contracts. Experience outside of Texas, especially in regions such as Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, will be considered favorably. Additionally, strong skills in negotiating and drafting oil and gas agreements, along with a thorough understanding of relevant laws and regulations, are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of oil and gas issues, including exploration, production, transportation, and sales activities.
- Draft detailed title opinions that identify and highlight defects, liens, encumbrances, or other issues that could impact ownership rights and property use.
- Conduct thorough analysis of legal documents such as leases, deeds, contracts, and title reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Advise internal teams on applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards to mitigate legal risks.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and negotiations related to land and title disputes.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify potential legal risks and develop effective risk management strategies.
- Stay current with legal developments, industry trends, and changes in oil and gas laws to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
- Provide training and legal guidance to other departments on relevant legal issues and compliance requirements.
