About The Role
The Accountant at Horstman Inc plays a vital role in supporting the financial health and integrity of the U.S. entity. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this position requires a proactive individual capable of managing core accounting functions independently while aligning with company policies and regulatory standards. The role involves hands-on responsibilities in monthly financial close processes, preparation of supporting schedules, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards. The Accountant will also be instrumental in supporting global and group reporting, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance efforts. Additionally, the position offers an opportunity to contribute to financial analysis, budgeting, and process improvements, making it a key player in the organization’s financial operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA designation strongly preferred. Candidates should have between 6 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a proven track record in manufacturing environments. Experience in international reporting frameworks is highly desirable, especially familiarity with U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards. Prior exposure to ERP systems is required, with experience in Visual ERP and Tagetik considered a plus. Candidates with backgrounds in defense, aerospace, or government contracting will have an added advantage. The role demands a strong technical foundation in accounting principles, coupled with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes by preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
- Oversee all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll activities, maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist with inventory management and cost accounting processes within a manufacturing environment to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and support alignment with IFRS reporting requirements, strengthening internal controls in accordance with group and regulatory standards.
- Support the preparation and submission of monthly financial reporting packages to Group and Global Finance teams, utilizing systems such as Visual ERP and Tagetik.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and provide detailed variance analysis and commentary for group-level review and decision-making.
- Assist in quarterly reforecasting and annual budgeting processes, providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic planning.
- Coordinate external audits, including preparing schedules and supporting documentation, and ensure compliance with government and defense-related audit requirements.
- Support regulatory reporting obligations at state and federal levels, maintaining accurate and timely submissions.
- Conduct financial analysis related to product costs, margin performance, working capital, and cash flow to inform operational decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial systems and reporting workflows, supporting system upgrades and reporting enhancements.
