Role summary

AimHire is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer for a remote, U.S.-based role. The engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure. Key areas of focus include Azure identity management (Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access), endpoint management (Intune), cloud security, and automation using PowerShell and Infrastructure-as-Code. The role also involves building Azure DevOps pipelines, implementing cloud governance, monitoring (Azure Monitor, Sentinel), and cost optimization strategies. Collaboration with IT leadership and security/compliance teams is essential to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency, and support hybrid cloud initiatives. The position requires 4+ years of relevant experience.

up to $100k + 5% bonus

AimHire is partnering with a growing technology-driven organization to hire an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer. This role will play a critical part in designing, implementing, and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure.

This individual will have expertise in Azure identity management, endpoint management, cloud security, and automation, while helping modernize and optimize the company’s cloud environment. This role works closely with IT leadership to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency, and support hybrid cloud integration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Azure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) models aligned with least-privilege security standards
  • Audit and optimize permissions across users, groups, service principals, and managed identities
  • Implement and manage Conditional Access, MFA, and identity protection policies within Microsoft Entra ID
  • Manage authentication, SSO, and user lifecycle management within Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Support hybrid identity architecture including Azure AD Connect and directory synchronization
  • Troubleshoot and optimize hybrid authentication flows and integrations
  • Deploy and manage Windows and macOS endpoints using Microsoft Intune
  • Implement device compliance policies, configuration profiles, and security baselines
  • Integrate Intune with Entra ID to enable unified identity and device management
  • Build and maintain Azure resources including virtual machines, networking, storage, and firewalls
  • Design secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures
  • Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives, including hybrid integrations with on-prem environments
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell
  • Build and support Azure DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows
  • Reduce manual operations through automation and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Support Microsoft Purview, Information Protection, and DLP policies
  • Implement governance standards including tagging strategies, cost management, and monitoring frameworks
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to maintain SOC2 and other regulatory standards
  • Implement monitoring solutions including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Microsoft Sentinel
  • Optimize performance, cost efficiency, and reliability across Azure workloads
  • Troubleshoot issues related to cloud services, identity management, and endpoint configurations

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as an Azure Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, Conditional Access, Intune, and hybrid identity environments
  • Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting, automation, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking, virtual machines, and security controls
  • Experience implementing cloud governance, monitoring, and cost optimization strategies
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Azure certifications such as:
  • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)
  • Experience supporting SOC2 or other compliance frameworks
