Akkodis is seeking an Sr. Database Engineer (Embedded Data Engineer) for a Full-Time opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite).
You will be responsible for designing and optimizing high-performance data systems, working closely with engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure data architectures in a regulated environment.
Salary Range:
$170,000 to $175,000 (flexible up to ~$180,000+ for strong candidates) + up to 15% bonus; Compensation may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
SVP Database Engineer Job Responsibilities Include
- Design, develop, and optimize
high-performance database and data systems
.
- Implement
replication strategies, failover mechanisms, and high-availability architectures
.
- Perform advanced
performance tuning, query optimization, and data modeling
.
- Collaborate closely with application and platform engineering teams as an
embedded data engineer
.
- Support and optimize
Oracle environments (VM-based and Exadata transition)
.
- Contribute to modern data platform initiatives including
Snowflake and Databricks
.
- Ensure
data security, encryption, and compliance standards
are met.
- Participate in
system design discussions
, focusing on data architecture and trade-offs.
- Work within
cloud environments (Azure preferred)
to support scalable data solutions.
- Identify risks and recommend solutions for performance and scalability challenges.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in
database engineering or data engineering roles
.
- Strong expertise in
Oracle database systems
.
- Proven experience in
performance tuning and optimization
.
- Experience with
replication, high availability, and distributed data systems
.
- Strong understanding of
data architecture and engineering principles
.
- Knowledge of
data security and encryption practices
.
- Experience with
cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
.
- Exposure to
Snowflake and Databricks
is highly preferred.
- Experience working in
regulated or secure environments
is a plus.
- Strong collaboration skills working within
engineering teams (non-DBA mindset)

Pay Details:
$170,000 to $175,000 per year + bonus
