Child Nutrition Program Manager
Role summary
The Child Nutrition Manager will oversee the school's kitchen operations, ensuring the quality and safety of food services to support student achievement. This role involves supervising and evaluating personnel, planning menus, managing food preparation and serving, maintaining sanitation and safety standards, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The manager will also utilize technology for data management and work collaboratively with staff and supervisors. Physical stamina for standing, bending, and lifting is required.

Job Function: The Child Nutrition Manager will provide direction, planning, monitoring, and oversight of the school’s kitchen. The essential functions of the Child Nutrition Manager are to supervise, direct, develop, and evaluate CNP personnel and designated staff to ensure the quality and safety of school system food services that enhance student achievement and educational programs. To provide healthy, nutritious meals and food preparation services for students, staff, visitors, and community members of the Alabama School of Fine Arts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A high school equivalency diploma
- Three years of school food service or related work
- ServSafe Food Safety Manager certification
- Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities
- Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
- Ability, agility, and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Implement planned quality menus; incorporate time-saving production techniques, effective merchandising, and nutrition education activities.
- Assume responsibilities for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving of food according to established standards.
- Assure that the sanitation and safety practices in all phases of the school food service operation meet established standards.
- Maintain a required system of accountability.
- Plan schedules and work assignments.
- Promote student and staff satisfaction.
- Involve staff and community in food service activities.
- Communicate concerns to the director about policies and procedures.
- Assist director in special school functions.
- Manage the program in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Evaluate staff on an annual basis.
- Make necessary recommendations regarding employee development and continued employment.
- Work with various software applications, entering and retrieving data as needed.
- Work well with both supervisors and other members of the team.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or administrator.
Terms of Employment: As established by the school and applicable state law. Schedule - 10:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Mondays- Thursdays, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Fridays.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the school’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
