Main responsibilities:

Position Summary

The Assistant Store Director (ASD) supports the Store Director in the overall operation, leadership, and financial performance of the store. This position provides day-to-day oversight of store operations, develops associates and department leaders, drives customer service excellence, and ensures compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and operating procedures. The ASD serves as the Store Director in their absence and is responsible for maintaining a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining high-performing associates.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to department managers and associates.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, inclusion, and customer service.
  • Support succession planning and development of future store leaders.
  • Lead store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
Operations Management
  • Ensure execution of company programs, merchandising standards, and operational initiatives.
  • Monitor store conditions to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are maintained.
  • Assist department managers in achieving productivity, service, and sales goals.
  • Conduct routine store walks to identify and resolve operational opportunities.
  • Ensure proper inventory controls, product rotation, and shrink reduction efforts.
Customer Experience
  • Promote an exceptional customer shopping experience throughout the store.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure associates actively engage customers and provide outstanding service.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvement strategies as needed.
Financial Accountability
  • Assist in managing labor, expenses, sales, and profit objectives.
  • Monitor payroll and scheduling to optimize productivity and customer service.
  • Support efforts to increase sales and improve store profitability.
  • Review operational reports and take corrective action when needed.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for associates and customers.
  • Support completion of audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.
  • Ensure proper handling of cash, security procedures, and asset protection programs.
