Role summary

Amazon Prime Air is seeking a Data Scientist to drive expansion through applied ML and rigorous experimentation. This role involves translating customer journey and behavioral data into predictive models and causal insights to identify opportunities, diagnose friction, and improve reach and conversion. You will develop innovative statistical, causal, and ML techniques, design and build ML/AI models and systems, and collaborate cross-functionally to understand business needs and technical constraints. The position requires presenting findings to senior leadership and staying current with AI/ML advancements. The ideal candidate will have experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.

We are seeking a Data Scientist to help drive Prime Air’s expansion through applied ML and rigorous experimentation. You’ll work with engineers, analysts, and domain partners to translate customer journey and behavioral data (e.g., clickstream signals) into predictive models, causal insights, and measurable interventions identifying high-opportunity segments, diagnosing adoption friction, and improving reach and conversion. Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Include

  • Developing new statistical, causal, and machine learning techniques and develop solution prototypes to drive innovation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deeply understand business requirements, customer needs, and technical constraints
  • Drive the research, design, and development of novel ML/AI models and systems to power critical products and services
  • Present insights, recommendations, and results to senior leadership through written reports and verbal presentations, earning trust through clear articulation of data-driven findings and their business impact.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in AI/ML and identify opportunities to apply emerging techniques

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data scientist or similar role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling and communication experience
  • 2+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL, Hadoop/Hive) experience
  • 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science experience
  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language
  • Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
