Role summary

AME Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer for their Vancouver office. This role involves mechanical design for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building control systems, from schematic design through construction. Responsibilities include system design calculations, equipment selection, and preparing contract drawings and documentation. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of technical mechanical experience, proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, IESve, and HAP, and up-to-date knowledge of building codes and standards. Experience with sustainable design is a plus. This is a hybrid role offering competitive pay and benefits.

Position Details

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our Vancouver office. In this role, you will be working in a collaborative team on mechanical design projects from schematic design through to construction. You should be an experienced designer with an excellent track record and considerable technical knowledge. Creative thinking and a proactive attitude, along with strong communication, organizational and report writing skills, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical design including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building control systems.
  • System design calculations and equipment selections.
  • Preparation of contract drawings and documentation.
  • Project coordination with team designers and external design professionals
  • Comply with AME Quality management standards and processes.

Key Skills

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, IESve, HAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical developments, building codes and standards. 
  • Clear and concise communication, both orally and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • P.Eng. or Professional Technologist designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 2-5 years of technical mechanical (HVAC, plumbing and fire protection) experience.
  • Sustainable design certification (LEED®, Certified Passive House Designer, etc.) or experience would be an asset.
