
Senior Analyst, Ad Operations
Role summary
The Senior Analyst, Ad Operations role within the Amex Ads Product & Operations team is responsible for the operational execution of advertising campaigns for third-party brands across American Express digital properties. This individual will manage campaigns from media plan validation and inventory forecasting through setup, trafficking, optimization, reporting, and billing, ensuring accuracy, successful delivery, and compliance with Amex standards. The role also involves partnering with Product, Engineering, and Sales to operationalize new advertising products and develop scalable processes. Key responsibilities include creative review, campaign setup and monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting, billing support, and process development for automation and standardization.

How will you make an impact in this role?
The Senior Analyst, Ad Operations role sits within the Amex Ads Product & Operations team and reports to the Manager, Amex Ads Operations. This individual will own the operational execution of advertising campaigns for third-party brands across American Express digital properties (e.g., Amex Travel, Resy, Amex App).
The Senior Analyst will manage campaigns throughout their lifecycle – from media plan validation and inventory forecasting through campaign setup, trafficking, optimization, reporting, and billing – ensuring campaigns launch accurately, deliver successfully, and comply with American Express standards.
This individual will also partner across Product, Engineering, Sales, and other teams to operationalize new advertising products and build scalable processes that support the continued growth of Amex Ads.
Responsibilities
Media Planning & Inventory Forecasting
Review media plans developed by the go-to-market team to ensure they are executable based on available ad products, inventory, targeting capabilities, and compliance requirements.
Forecast available ad inventory and provide recommendations to refine campaign plans.
Creative Review & Approval
Manage the creative review and approval process, ensuring campaigns meet applicable legal, compliance, and brand requirements and receive all required approvals prior to launch.
Campaign Setup, Trafficking & Optimization
Own end-to-end setup and execution of ad campaigns, including campaign creation, creative and tag trafficking, targeting implementation, and pre-launch quality assurance.
Monitor campaign delivery and performance, produce regular pacing reports, and execute in-flight optimizations as needed.
Troubleshooting & Operational Support
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve campaign delivery and operational issues.
Reporting & Insights
Develop weekly reports for advertisers, incorporating key delivery metrics (e.g., impressions, clicks, CTR, media value).
Partner with Analytics to develop mid- and post-campaign reporting.
Analyze campaign results and translate performance data into actionable insights and recommendations.
Billing
Support advertiser billing and payment collection processes.
New Product Launches
Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to operationalize new ad units, channels, formats, and capabilities.
Define operational requirements and ensure new advertising products are ready for successful execution at launch.
Process Development & Scalability
Design and implement scalable ad operations processes, workflows, and controls.
Document operating procedures and contribute to future-state operational roadmaps and process maps.
Identify opportunities to improve campaign execution through automation, standardization, and process optimization.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in advertising operations, with hands-on experience setting up and activating display media campaigns.
- Experience with campaign trafficking, creative and tag implementation, inventory and pacing reporting, campaign monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with ad serving platforms; experience with Google Ad Manager is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of digital advertising and media best practices across campaign planning, activation, optimization, and measurement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Process-oriented mindset with the ability to identify operational improvements and develop scalable solutions.
