The Front-End Web Developer joins a team responsible for enhancing public web presence and user experience for APEI and its affiliates or clients, building the brand and finding ways to leverage existing knowledge and technology across departments. The team serves its clients by guiding them through new content creation and web development efforts, as well as providing new ideas and execution of enhancements.
The Front-End Web Developer will reside within the Marketing department and reports directly to Sr. Manager Marketing Technology. They will assist Sr. Front-End developers in the enhancement and maintenance of existing web properties. They will attend meetings with Sr. Front-End Developers and IT as well as other Business teams to identify, define, analyze and execute changes to web properties with high scalability, performance, and availability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
This is a part-time, temporary role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Interface with the Marketing Technology team members and IT counterparts on execute solution based on development requirements.
- Develop and assist with assigned web site projects, including testing and bug remediation.
- Respond rapidly to continuous changes and real-time updates required to web sites and troubleshoot issues or problems as they arise.
- Communicate project status in a timely, clear, and concise manner.
- Collaborates with UX/UI designers to transform wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs into functional code.
- Researches and remains current on industry trends relating to Web accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies to drive and evangelize best practices.
- Works cross-functionally with IT, UX/UI, Project Management, and other departments to define project requirements and help establish project timelines.
- Maintains and documents both new and existing code solutions to facilitate transfer of knowledge.
- Optimizes web applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Ensures a consistent and high-quality user experience across various devices and browsers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to develop responsive and interactive web interfaces using CSS, HTML, JavaScript, XML, JSON and PHP.
- Expert in collaborative development workflows using GitHub (or similar version control software).
- Expert in local development setup and operation including MAMP (or equivalent localization setup), node.js, and SCSS.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Familiarity with tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Expert in development using javascript libraries, preferably JQuery.
- Expert in using a Web Content Management Systems (CMS), preferably Sitefinity.
- Experience with front-end frameworks, preferably Bootstrap and Foundation.
- Understanding of ADA compliance and capable of remediating accessibility findings.
- Strong research skills with the ability to quickly and accurately utilize information to ideate solutions for technical problems.
- Strong knowledge of technical tools, digital marketing, and how back-end technology translates to front-end environment and an optimal end-user experience.
- Expertise using and customizing a content management system to effectively maintain and develop web content.
- Strong understanding of technical impacts to other areas within the Marketing team (e.g. CRO, SEO, etc.) and the ability to communicate those impacts to non-technical roles.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field required
