Role summary
Andco is seeking a Product Design Engineer to bridge the gap between product design and implementation. This role involves designing key workflows and UI patterns, owning and building the design system, and shipping frontend changes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with both design thinking and hands-on frontend execution, with a strong product design sense and the ability to implement UI using React/TypeScript. Experience with AI tooling, UI state management, and collaboration with engineers is essential. Nice-to-haves include experience with design systems, complex B2B products, accessibility, and performance best practices.
**About Andco**
Andco gets police, insurance and medical documents for plaintiff law firms - so they can do cases faster and scale without overhead.
**The role**
We’re hiring a Product Design Engineer to bridge product design and implementation. You will:
* design key workflows and UI patterns
* own and build the design system
* ship frontend changes into production
This is not a pure design role and not a traditional software engineering role. You should be comfortable moving between design thinking and hands-on frontend execution, with enough technical awareness to design solutions that are feasible and robust.
**What you’ll do**
Own UX from concept → shipped UI for new features and improvements.
Translate ambiguous problems into clear flows, interaction patterns, and polished UI.
Build and maintain a design system (components, tokens, patterns, documentation) that enables speed and consistency.
Ship simple UI changes independently, and partner with engineers on more complex features (data modeling, edge cases, architecture).
**What we’re looking for**
Think in terms of **_If we open-sourced this tomorrow, would you be proud to say this was your work?_**
Must-haves
* Strong product design taste (layout, typography, hierarchy, interaction design).
* Ability to implement frontend UI (React/TypeScript or similar).
* Practical understanding of UI state/data flow (you think in states, not just screens).
* Comfortable using AI tooling to accelerate implementation while maintaining quality.
* Strong collaboration and communication — especially in engineer partnerships.
Nice-to-haves
* Experience owning or rebuilding a design system.
* Experience with complex B2B / workflow-heavy products.
* Familiarity with accessibility and performance best practices.
**Compensation**
$150k–$220k base, \~1% equity. depending on level and fit
