Role summary

Seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer for the Surface Dominance team in Costa Mesa, California. This role involves designing, integrating, and managing complex software systems for Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs), bridging hardware and software, and managing the full lifecycle. Responsibilities include building real-time interfaces, handling large data streams, developing immersive user experiences, and contributing to reusable software components across product lines. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in full-stack development, systems and/or application programming, and a strong understanding of software design, data structures, and concurrency. Experience with various technologies including Typescript, React, C++, Go, Kubernetes, and Python is required. Familiarity with Systems Engineering, cloud technologies, embedded software, and product delivery lifecycle is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is necessary, along with the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer, Full-stack to join our Surface Dominance team in Costa Mesa, California
  • You will work closely with the program leadership and a wide spectrum of cross-departments as part of a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever
  • In this role you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and managing complex, software-intensive mission autonomy systems based on the Lattice OS, with specific focus on integration into a coherent, consistent, and complete system for Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) and associated payload modules
  • You will bridge the gap between hardware and software, and between ship control, payload control, and mission operations, handling the entire lifecycle across ConOps development, requirements development and analysis, design, testing, optimization, and maintenance
  • Join our dynamic team and help us build the next generation of autonomous maritime systems
  • Design, build, and deploy a real-time, map-based interface for displaying and interacting with sensor data and commanding physical assets
  • Fetch and manage large streams of data while maintaining performant rendering in a low-friction user experience
  • Build and design immersive image-viewing experiences
  • Work with technologies like: Typescript, React/Redux for web front end, React Native for mobile applications, C++, Go, Haskell, Kubernetes, Python, Rust, Nix for backend systems
  • Empathize with end-users and drive solutions that balance their needs with external constraints, restrictions and requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Own software enabled solutions that are deployed to customers, optimizing for the delivery of value to the end-user
  • Implement software that rapidly delivers capability beyond the scope of current platforms, with a clear path for both architecture and capability evolution over time
  • Contribute to the development of existing software services across Anduril, with the aim of developing components that are re-usable across multiple Anduril product lines
  • Develop software that runs on- and off- robotic platforms, using a variety of technologies
  • Work as part of team to develop, then iteratively enhance, vehicle, payload, and mission software, including full lifecycle testing, monitoring and operation
  • Create test and simulation fixtures that operate with both software- and hardware-in-the-loop
  • Support vehicle integration and test, and deployment
  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Travel to co-locate with end-users and/or other teams up to 20% of the time

  • Professional Development- Experience writing frontend applications using Typescript and ReactProfessional experience working as a Software Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of competence
  • At least 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, testing, and troubleshooting software-based systems
  • Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing and software design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Capacity to learn and grow rapidly, building personal and team capacity
  • Experience writing backend services or embedded software
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
  • Capacity to work holistically on software enabled capabilities up and down the software stack and through lifecycle through design, implementation, operation and sustainment
  • Experience building user-facing applications, especially in the domains of military, space, automotive, or other manned or unmanned command and control systems
  • Experience in the delivery of a military mission system
  • Experience with the implementation and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies
  • Experience with the implementation and support of embedded software, particularly in the field of robotics
  • Experience with development of high assurance safety critical software
  • Experience with modeling and simulation
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts
  • Experience within the product delivery lifecycle including manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment
