The Edge Retail Service Reliability Engineering team is chartered to deliver excellent platform experiences and reliable services to store employees and over 1 million daily visitors to Apple’s 530+ retail stores.
We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to drive the release management strategies and lead cross-functional partnerships that underpin the retail compute platform and services.
Description
The ideal candidate will lead a team of experienced technical staff, collaborate with partner teams to drive releases across various environments, and ensure quality and reliability while aligning with business objectives at all Apple Retail stores. They should possess a strong foundation in coding, automation, and proficiency in Jenkins for managing CI/CD pipelines.","responsibilities":"Oversees software delivery life cycle, including process improvement and optimization.

Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of release management and DevOps experience in production environments.
Knowledge of security best practices in CI/CD (secrets management, signing, vulnerability scanning).
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills to drive alignment with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Good understanding of networking protocols and components like HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing.
Exposure to AI-driven automation in release pipelines (test automation, anomaly detection, self-healing).
Minimum Qualifications
Proficiency in CI/CD, infrastructure automation, GIT workflows, release pipelines, and branching strategies.
Experience with configuration management (Puppet, Ansible), unit testing, and risk mitigation.
Extensive knowledge in Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Linux system internals, and Linux-based server virtualization (KVM, containers).
Strong ability to resolve complex cross-functional dependencies and conflicts, troubleshoot build, deployment, and release issues.

Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $298,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
